7 President’s Message 校長獻辭 The University also caresmuch about nurturing young peoplewith different talents to unveil their potentials to the fullest. The Talented Athletes Direct Admission Scheme (TADAS), which was launched to enhance and replace the former Elite Athletes Admission Scheme (EAAS) last year, is a vivid example of our related endeavours. I am pleased to say our first cohort of student athletes from the TADAS have fared well and achieved exceptional results at international competitions such asThe 19th Asian Games andThe 4th Asian Para Games, inspiring us with their determination to persevere against all challenges. Their successes also reassured our commitment in providing comprehensive care and support for students to fly far and high for their dreams. Pioneering role of Chinese medicine The University has created tangible impact on the community with our expertise in Chinese medicine. We can take pride in knowing our School of Chinese Medicine has offered invaluable insights and services during the pandemic, leveragingour COVID-19 related research and clinical experience. Our efforts in the standardisation and internationalisation of Chinese medicine were highlighted by the development of the first botanical drug in Hong Kong which succeeded in the Investigational New Drug Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the development of another botanical drug which has been granted orphan drug designation by the FDA. Since the announcement in June 2021 of HKBU having been selected by the HKSAR Government as the operator of Hong Kong’s first-ever Chinese Medicine Hospital, we are grateful to have secured a considerable sumof around HK$932 million in donations, donation pledges and matching funds, in support of the University’s research in and strategic development of Chinese medicine. With the University’s solid capabilities in Chinese medicine education, research and knowledge transfer, I look forward to the University’s further contributions to public health by running the Chinese Medicine Hospital when its operation commences in 2025. 大學亦十分注重培育具備不同才華的年輕 人，讓他們充分發揮潛能，去年推出的「優  才運動員入學計劃」，以優化和取代先前  的「精英運動員入學計劃」，就是最佳  證明。我很高興看到循該計劃入讀的首批 學生運動員表現出色，在多項國際賽事中，  包括第 19 屆亞洲運動會和第四屆亞洲殘疾人 運動會均屢獲佳績，啟發我們以決心克服種 種挑戰。他們的成功亦肯定了我們為同學提 供全面照顧和支援的承諾，讓他們為夢想飛 得更高更遠。 中醫藥先驅 浸大以中醫藥方面的專業知識，為社會作出 實質貢獻。回顧新冠疫情期間，浸大中醫藥 學院憑藉與新冠病毒相關的研究和臨床經 驗，為思考抗疫措施帶來啟發，並提供相關 服務，讓我們引以為傲。此外，我們成功開 發香港首種通過美國食品及藥物管理局試驗 性新藥審批的植物藥，以及成功開發另一種 獲得美國食品及藥物管理局孤兒藥認定的植 物藥，這突顯了我們推廣中醫藥標準化和國 際化的成效。自浸大於 2021 年 6 月獲政府委 任為香港首間中醫醫院的服務契約承辦機構 迄今，大學籌得支持中醫藥研究及策略發展 之捐款、認捐及配對補助金，合共達港幣 9.32 億元。浸大在中醫藥教育、研究和知識 轉移方面的基礎堅固，實力雄厚，由大學營 運的中醫醫院於 2025 年啟用後，浸大必定將 能進一步為公眾健康作出貢獻。
