5 Chairman’s Report 主席報告 4. To support innovation and research: Donations can help a university conduct innovative research and achieve scientific breakthroughs; 5. To foster a stronger community: A sense of belonging among stakeholders towards a university can be established through donations; 6. To leave a legacy: Donations can serve as a long-lastingway of benefiting future university students. Basically, these are the pivotal roles the HKBU Foundation has been playing for the past 14 years. Every dollar raised by the Foundation has been used effectively for teaching, research, and communitypurposes. Certainly, itmay be difficult for a chatbot to comprehend the part that HKBU’s caring DNA plays in attracting philanthropists to render their support for the University. Nonetheless, the answers to such an interesting question illuminate how the HKBU Foundation has touched the hearts of people from different walks of life – by assisting the University to grow, to innovate, and to give back to society. As a new term of office starts in 2024, we have invited a number of community leaders who are enthusiastic about education to join the Foundation’s Board of Governors and its standing committees, thereby bringing in new ideas and further extending our network.The Foundationwill continue to collaborate closely with various partners to create a higher value for the donations received. I would also like to expressmy heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Board of Governors and the three committees for the enormous contributions they made during the previous term. Their commitment and enthusiasm deserve our appreciation and recognition. Longstanding tradition of philanthropy in Hong Kong Hong Kong people are renowned for their philanthropic spirit. A few months ago, The Hong Kong Jockey Club announced the establishment of the Institute of Philanthropy, which aims to help Hong Kong develop into a leading international centre for philanthropy. With such dedication and backing, we can foresee that the culture of giving back to society will soon be infused in the public. The HKBU Foundation is ready to securing more support from people who identify with our faith in whole person education, helping us accomplish our goals such as operating Hong Kong’s first-ever Chinese Medicine Hospital, our pioneering of art-tech research and development, and redeveloping the Ho Sin Hang Campus. With your staunch support, HKBU will keep rolling out new plans and make itself shine in not only Asia but also the world. Wong, BBS, JP Chairman, Board of Governors Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation 4. 支援創新和研究：捐款能使大學推動創新 並取得重大的科學發現； 5. 培養更強大的社區：建立大學持份者與大 學之間的歸屬感； 6. 遺留影響：以捐款作為留下持久影響的  方式，讓未來的大學生受益。 事實上，香港浸會大學基金過去 14 年來，  都肩負着上述的重要角色，基金籌募所得 的款項有效地用於推進教研工作，和惠澤  社會。固然 ChatGPT 無法理解浸大一向關愛 社群的基因也是吸引善長捐資的原因之一， 但借此有趣的問與答，正顯示香港浸會大學 基金如何推進大學發展和締造創新，積極把 握機遇，回饋社會，深深打動了社會人士。 而在 2024 年，基金新一年度的任期，董事 局及各委員會亦廣納熱心教育的社會翹楚加 入，引進新思維，拓展網絡之餘，我們將緊 密與各夥伴合作，創建更高的捐款效益。我 亦藉此機會衷心感謝基金董事局、各委員會 成員在過去一個任期所作的重大貢獻，大家 對基金的竭心盡力，實在銘感於心。 香港具備優良的慈善傳統 香港人的慈善精神，一向聞名於世，香港賽 馬會早前公布將成立公益慈善研究院，推動 香港成為領先國際的慈善中心。相信不久 的將來，回饋社會的文化，全民公益將成為 新的時尚。香港浸會大學基金已準備就緒， 爭取更多認同全人教育使命的有心人續予支 持，協助大學實現願景，當中包括營運香港 首間中醫醫院、推動藝術科技發展，以及重 建善衡校園等，您們的力量將促使浸大推陳 出新，在國際及亞太區更展光芒。期盼您們 加入基金的大家庭！ 黃英豪議員， BBS ， JP 董事局主席 香港浸會大學基金
