21 University’s Recent Developments 大學最新發展 HKBU showcased a number of scientific research achievements integrating advanced technology and AI at the InnoCarnival 2023. One of the exhibits was an “electronic interactive historical map” which integrates digital technologies with historical content to present the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941. BuVatar, an AI-powered digital avatar with appearances and behaviours customisable by programming through natural language commands; as well as a robotic arm capable of writing Chinese calligraphy with an ink brush, were also showcased at the event. 浸大於「創新科技嘉年華 2023 」展出多項結合先進技術和 人工智能的科研成果,當中包括「電子互動歷史地圖」,通 過結合數碼技術與歷史內容,以動態的形式呈現 1941 年的   「香港保衞戰」歷史。另一項展出的領先研究是由人工智能 驅動、能自訂外觀和動作的虛擬化身 BuVatar ,可完全透過 語言指令進行編程;以及可操控毛筆寫書法的機械人系統。 Many small, old shops face closure or relocation. Renowned illustrator Ms. Pat Wong and Mr. Kachi Chan, Assistant Professor and Research Assistant Professor respectively of HKBU’s Academy of Visual Arts, employed 3D scanning technology and AI to create virtual 3D “point cloud models” for recording the outlooks and interior of these shops. First held in 2011, the event has also taken place in South Korea, China and Singapore. This was the first time for the event to be held after the pandemic and also in Hong Kong. 浸大主辦香港 2023 大學劍擊邀請賽,匯聚浸大及來自中國內 地和美國共 13 所大學約 60 名學生劍擊運動員,參加為期兩天 的友誼賽。這項比賽於 2011 首辦,曾在南韓、中國、新加坡 的不同城市舉行,而今年的比賽是疫情後首次,亦是第一次 在香港舉辦。 Community Engagement 社會服務 The HKBU Chinese Medicine Telemedicine Centre Against COVID-19 provided free diagnosis and treatment to COVID-19 patients, close contacts, and caregivers during the pandemic. A team led by Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, MH, Associate Vice-President (Chinese Medicine Development), studied the data collected and found that patients taking Chinese medicine experienced significant symptom relief and took a shorter time to test negative in rapid tests. This shows that Chinese medicine tele-services can contribute to Hong Kong’s healthcare system.  「浸大中醫抗疫遠程醫療中心」在新冠疫情期間免費為新冠 患者、緊密接觸者及照顧者作診斷和治療。浸大協理副校長   (中醫藥發展)卞兆祥教授, MH 領導的團隊分析期間所  收集的數據,發現感染新冠後服用中藥,症狀明顯減輕,  快速測試轉呈陰性時間亦較短,反映中醫遠程醫療可為香港 的醫療保健體系作出貢獻。
