20 HKBU scholars have led a number of research initiatives in support of the Nation’s space missions. Ms. Anna Qin, Assistant Professor of the Academy of Visual Arts, in collaboration with Shenzhen ND Industrial Design Co. Limited, played a key role in the design of a landing chair for crews of China’s Shenzhou space missions. The landing chair is one of the key tools used by the astronauts while landing on Earth from space flight missions, providing immediate support to the musculoskeletal system and its deterioration incurred during the landing. 浸大學者帶領項目支持國家太空探索的研發工作。視覺藝 術學院助理教授秦萊茵女士肩負主要設計角色，與深圳市 無限空間工業設計有限公司合作設計中國神舟太空飛船護 航椅。該護航椅是航天員在結束太空飛行任務後，降落地 球離開飛船時使用，它可以全身承托航天員，為他們失重 的肌肉骨骼系統狀態提供即時支援。 A study by HKBU has demonstrated that a multifunctional organic compound named F-SLOH has the potential to treat Alzheimer’s disease at its early stage. The team found that the compound could inhibit the aggregation of amyloid-beta and reduce the hyperphosphorylation of tau proteins and neuroinflammation in the brain. The research team comprises Professor Li Min, Associate Dean and Professor of the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM); Professor Ricky Wong Man Shing, Professor of the Department of Chemistry; and Dr. Iyaswamy Ashok, Research Assistant Professor of SCM. The School of Chinese Medicine team was led by Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine and Dr. Kennedy Y.H.
