51 In Memoriam 永遠懷念 The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. the Hon. Arnaldo de Oliveira Sales, GBM, OBE, CBE, JP, GCIH, Honorary Doctor of Social Sciences (2001) and donor of HKBU, on 6 March 2020. He was 100 years old. Dr. Sales was one of the founding members of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, of which he was President for more than 30 years. He helped Hong Kong retain its status as a separate sporting entity after its reunification with Mainland China, so that athletes were able to participate in international competitions under the banner of Hong Kong, China. Dr. Sales was very supportive of HKBU. He rendered support to the undergraduate physical education programme launched by HKBU in 1992 as well as to international conferences and seminars on sports education. He also established the Mrs. Edith N. de O. Sales Scholarship to award outstanding postgraduate students of the University’s Master of Social Sciences in Sport and Leisure Management programme. Dr. Sales will always be remembered for his ardent support for Hong Kong as well as the University. Dr. the Hon. Arnaldo de Oliveira Sales 沙理士博士 香港浸會大學 2001 年榮譽社會科學博 士及大學捐款人沙理士博士, GBM , OBE , CBE , J P , GC I H 於 2020 年 3 月 6 日辭世,享年 100 歲,基金同仁深表 哀悼。 沙理士博士為中國香港體育協會暨奧林 匹克委員會的創會成員之一,曾任會長 逾 30 年,並為香港體育界成功爭取獨立 參賽地位,讓香港運動員於回歸後可以 繼續以「中國香港」的名義參加國際賽 事。此外,沙理士博士一直致力推動香 港體育教育的發展,他十分認同浸大於 1992 年開辦的學士學位體育課程,而對 大學舉辦體育國際會議和研討會更是鼎 力支持。此外,他於浸大成立了「沙理 士博士夫人獎學金」,以獎勵優秀的運 動及休閒管理社會科學碩士課程的研究 生。大學同仁定必銘記沙理士博士對香 港及浸大發展作出的熱心支持。 The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. the Hon. Stanley Ho, GBM, GML, GBS, OBE, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, on 26 May 2020. He was 98 years old. An influential entrepreneur in Hong Kong and Macau, Dr. Ho established an enterprise that involves multiple business activities, notably in tourism and property development. Dr. Ho was widely known for his generosity and benevolent spirit, regularly giving back to the communities in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. He was a staunch supporter of the University and made a generous donation in 1993 in support of the construction of the David C. Lam Building. In recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions, Dr. Ho was the only individual to date to receive the top honours of the Medalha de Honra Grande Lótus (Grand Lotus Medal of Honour) and the Grand Bauhinia Medal bestowed by the Macau and Hong Kong SAR Governments in 2007 and 2010 respectively. Dr. Ho will always be remembered for his distinguished contributions to Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau as well as to the University. Dr. the Hon. Stanley Ho Hung Sun 何鴻燊博士 香港浸會大學基金榮譽主席何鴻燊 博士, GBM , GML , GBS , OB E於 2020 年 5 月 26 日辭世,享年 98 歲,基金同仁 深表哀悼。 何博士是港澳兩地舉足輕重的企業家, 其創辦的集團業務繁多,在旅遊及地產 業界的貢獻尤其卓著;何博士終身樂 善好施,福澤社群;身體力行,回饋 社會。何博士對浸大亦關愛有加,於 1993 年慷慨捐資浸大,襄助大學興建 思齊樓,支持大學發展。為表彰他的卓 越貢獻,何博士於 2007 年獲澳門特區 政府頒授「大蓮花榮譽勳章」,及於 2010 年獲香港特區政府頒授「大紫荊 勳章」,是目前唯一獲兩區政府頒授最 高榮譽的人士。大學同仁深深永記何 博士對中港澳及浸大發展作出的重大 貢獻。
