20 University’s Recent Developments 大學最新發展 HKBU teams won nine top prizes at the 45 th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. The award-winning research teams were led by Professor Cheung Yiu Ming from the Department of Computer Science; Professor Gary Wong from the Department of Chemistry; and Professor Jeffrey Cheung from the Department of Physics. For two years running, HKBU has been the only institution in Hong Kong to win gold medals for all the projects it submitted. 浸大的研究團隊於第 45 屆日內瓦國際發明展上奪得九個大獎， 得獎的研究團隊分別由計算機科學系張曉明教授、化學系黃嘉 良教授及物理系張大健教授領導。浸大是唯一一所香港院校連 續兩年所有參賽項目均取得金獎。 A paper entitled “Enhanced Near-Cloak by FSH Lining” by Dr. Liu Hongyu, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics, has been honoured as Highly Cited Research by the international publication Journal des Mathematiques Pures et Appliquees. Dr. Liu also received the Calderon Prize, the highest award in the field of inverse problems, at the 9 th Applied Inverse Problems Conference. It is presented to researchers under 40 who have made distinguished contributions in this field. 數學系副教授劉宏宇博士憑着論文「以 FSH 層作襯裡的增強型隱形技 術」，獲國際學術期刊《純數學與應用數學》頒發最高論文引用獎，並 於第九屆國際應用反問題會議上獲頒發「卡爾德隆獎」。此獎授予 40 歲以下在反問題領域上有傑出貢獻的學者，是該領域中的最高榮譽。 Dr. Edmond Ma, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, and his research team won the 2017 Third-class Science and Technology Award of China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA award), for their project entitled “Phosphorescence Label-Free G-quadruplex-based Sensing Platform for Detecting Analytes in Environmental and Biological Systems”. Dr. Ma is the first Hong Kong-born scholar to receive the CAIA award as the project principal manager since it was established 25 years ago. 浸大化學系副教授馬迪龍博士與研究團隊獲得 2017 年中國 分析測試協會科學技術獎三等獎（又稱 CAIA 獎），表揚他們 在「基於 G- 四鏈體的無標記磷光檢測平台在環境及生物分析中的 應用」研究項目的傑出貢獻。自 CAIA 獎成立 25 年來，馬博士是首 位以「第一完成人」身份獲得該獎項的香港土生科研學者。 A team of five Computer Science students took part in the Student Supercomputer Challenge 2017, one of the world’s largest supercomputing contests. Among the 230 teams from around the world, the HKBU team was the only team from Hong Kong to reach the final. It won the First Class Award as one of the top eight teams. 由五位計算機科學系同學組成的隊伍參加了世界最大規模超級 計算機賽事之一的「世界大學生超級計算機競賽 2017 」，不但 是全球 230 隊參賽隊伍中唯一能晉級決賽的香港隊伍，最後更 躋身八強，獲得一等獎。 Outstanding Achievements 傑出成就
