New Territories Heung Yee Kuk, donor of the University, hosted a spring cocktail reception to celebrate Chinese New Year on 11 February 2019. The Hon. Kenneth Lau, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of the New Territories Heung Yee Kuk, officiated the ceremony with a number of dignitaries and honourable guests including The Hon. Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; The Hon. Matthew Cheung, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration; The Hon. Paul Chan, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, Financial Secretary; Ms. Teresa Cheng, GBS, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice; Ir Prof. K.K. Wong, GBS, JP, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, as well as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Kum Shing Group; Mr. Alex Leung, President of the HKBU Alumni Association, Honorary Director of the HKBU Foundation; and Ms. Quince Chong, JP, Honorary University Fellow of HKBU. Hundreds of guests joined the event. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, attended the reception on behalf of the University.
