Farewell Reception in honour of Chairman Cheng Yan Kee
To pay tribute to Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, the outgoing Chairman of the Council and the Court, the University held a reception at University Chapel on 12 December 2018. The reception was well attended by hundreds of guests including Council and Court members, HKBU Foundation members, government officials, staff, alumni and friends of the University.
Speaking at the reception, Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, praised Chairman Cheng as an extraordinary leader who shouldered a lot of pressure to let the University focus on teaching and research work. President Chin said Chairman Cheng is visionary and down-to-earth. Being the longest serving Chairman in HKBU history, he has a lot of fine qualities that enable him to be a good model for the University community.
In his remarks, Chairman Cheng concluded that his days at HKBU for 20 years have been exhilarating and fascinating. He said HKBU is a harmonious place and brought him a lot of fond memories. He thanked the University community for the friendship and support all along. With the talent we have, the values we share and a commitment to excellence, he believed that the best of HKBU has yet to come.
A number of Foundation members attended the reception.
