Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce, Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation, hosted the 51st Term Inauguration Ceremony cum Gala Dinner for the Honours Recipients in 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 20 November 2018. Officiating guests included Mr. Alfred Lin, President of the Chamber; The Hon. Andrew Leung, GBS, JP, President of the Legislative Council; Dr. The Hon. Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBS, JP, Convenor of the Executive Council; The Hon. Edward Yau, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Mr. He Jing, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr. Zhao Jiankai, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR; and Dr. Ian Chan, SBS, MH, Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations. A number of Foundation members were also invited to join the ceremony. They included Dr. Yu Kwok Chun, GBS, JP; Dr. the Hon. Robin Chan, GBM, GBS, JP; and Dr. Ma Kai Cheung, SBS. The event was well attended by around 1,000 dignitaries and honourable guests. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, attended the event on behalf of the University.
