Dr. Merle Hinrich honoured with BGS’s Entrepreneurial Achievement Award

Dr. Merle A. Hinrich, Founder and Chairman of the Hinrich Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, and Honorary University Fellow of HKBU, was honoured with The Entrepreneurial Achievement Award presented by Beta Gamma Sigma on 28 September 2018 for his significant contribution to the development of global trade through business and education, and for his charitable work and commitment to society. Dr. Hinrich is currently Executive Chairman of Global Sources Limited.

At the award presentation ceremony, Dr. Hinrich shared with students and guests about his entrepreneurial journey in the past five decades. “All businesses are constantly evolving, and we as entrepreneurs have to adjust accordingly to keep abreast of the ever-changing business environment. However, change is not always easy, so you have to be very flexible and cope with change.”

HKBU representatives attending the ceremony included Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Edward Snape, Dean of Business; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.

The BGS Entrepreneurial Achievement Award is an international recognition for individuals and firms who combine innovative business achievement with service to humanity. Dr. Hinrich is among the three awardees this year worldwide.
