Organised by the Jao Studies Foundation and Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole Fan Club and others, a spring dinner reception and the launch of the “Glamor of the Jao’s Lotus” album was held at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Happy Valley Clubhouse on 25 January 2018 for Professor the Hon. Jao Tsung-i, GBM, renowned master of Sinology, and his family to celebrate the New Year with their friends.  Professor Jao has been a supportive donor of HKBU and is Honorary Permanent Director of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology.

A number of Members of the HKBU Foundation were invited. They included Dr. Simon Suen, BBS, JP and Mrs. Mary Suen; Dr. Elizabeth Law, MH; Mrs. Susan So, BBS; Mrs. Fidelia Chan Yau Man Ying; and Mr. Cheng Chak Kuen. Several representatives of HKBU also attended the dinner. They were, among others, Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Mrs. Zina Chin; Professor Albert Chan, JP, President Emeritus, and Mrs. Mabel Chan; Professor Zhang Hongsheng, Head of Department of Chinese Language and Literature; Professor Chen Zhi, Honorary Advisor of the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
