Dr. Philip Wu, BBS, JP, Secretary of Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation Limited and Honorary Trustee of the HKBU Foundation, together with Ms. Tansy Lau, Mr. Jason Wu and Mr. Victor Chan, Governors of the Foundation, visited the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) on 4 January 2018. The guests were warmly received by Mr. Yeung Chee Kong, Associate Vice-President (Engagement); Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of SCM; Professor Zheung Ge, Director of the Technology Development Division and Associate Director of the Teaching and Research Division of SCM; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
The guests first paid a visit to the research facilities of SCM and the Shum Yiu Foon Shum Bik Chuen Memorial Centre for Cancer and Inflammation Research (CCIR). Professor Lyu Aiping then gave a presentation on the latest development of the CCIR, its achievements and innovative research on new drug discovery for treating cancer and inflammatory diseases for the benefit of humankind.
Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, hosted a lunch for the guests at his residence Shiu Pong Hall after the visit. They were joined by Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President (Chinese Medicine Development) and Director of the Clinical Division of SCM. Professor Chin expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the Foundation’s longstanding support for SCM over the years in nurturing outstanding talents in the field of Chinese medicine.
