Supported by The Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, the prize presentation of the first Hung Leung Hau Ling Young Writer Award was held on 20 October 2017. Guests and HKBU representatives attending the event included Ms. Belinda Hung, Co-Founder and Director of the Foundation; Mr. Tsai Yim Pui, a renowned writer; Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); Dr. Cissy Li and Dr. Chu Siu Cheung, Head and Senior Lecturer respectively of the Language Centre. 

The Hung Leung Hau Ling Young Writer Award was established by the HKBU’s Hong Kong Literature Promotion Platform with the aim of encouraging young writers in Hong Kong to pursue creative writing. The prize went to young poet and novelist Mr. Li Chiu Chun, an alumnus of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.
