The Sun Museum, funded by the Simon Suen Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, is holding an exhibition entitled “Celestial Cases: Antique Boxes of China”. 80 pieces of antique Chinese boxes dating from the Han to Qing dynasties were exhibited. All are selected from nine local private collections. Lenders to the exhibition included Buer Zhai, Kwong Yee Che Tong, Collection of Mr. and Mrs. George Lee, Songyin Ge, Jingxing Tang, Songde Tang, Xianxi Tang, Yuyin Tang and Ze’en Tang.

The Opening Ceremony was held on 2 September 2017. Officiating guests included Mr. Chu Ting, Deputy Director-General of Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Mr. Chiu Kwong Kin, Assistant District Officer (Kwun Tong); Ms. Winsome Chow, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Arts Development Council; Mr. Ip Cheung Ching, Chairman of Cultural and Promotion Working Group of Chinese Temples Committee; Professor Lee Chack-fun, GBS, JP, Director of Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole of The University of Hong Kong; Dr. Simon Suen, BBS, JP, and Miss Chloe Suen, Founding Chairman and Chair of the Simon Suen Foundation respectively; and Mr. Yeung Chun Tong, Director of the Sun Museum. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, attended the ceremony on behalf of the University.

The exhibition aims to demonstrate the dynamic development of boxes of China in different dynasties. The public can enjoy free admission by appointment and the exhibition will be held until 2 December 2017. Please click here for details.
