The Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) School of Business successfully hosted the 10th Dean’s Cup Business Innovation Gymnasium (BIG 10.0) Grand Final on 27 May 2025. The event was sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club for the second consecutive year, with Cyberport continuing to provide the venue and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and WLAB extending vital support. This collaboration showcased the collective drive to foster entrepreneurial creativity among HKBU students.
Dr. Marta Dowejko, Director of the School’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre (EIC), kicked off the event by highlighting BIG’s evolution into a comprehensive entrepreneurial bootcamp. Through a blend of hands-on training, networking opportunities, and workshops focused on pitching, innovation, and self-efficacy, the initiative equips students with innovation and entrepreneurial skills that are crucial for any career path.
This year’s competition attracted a record 150 proposals, demonstrating the growing influence of BIG and the flourishing entrepreneurial spirit at HKBU. Following intense rounds of selection, six teams advanced to the Grand Final. Among them, “Small Potato BIG Dream”, founded by Year 1 BBA student Jenny Chow Yan Shuen, emerged as the champion. Her social enterprise aims to address employment challenges faced by individuals with Special Education Needs (SEN) by empowering them with culinary, entrepreneurial, and transferable soft skills through a training café model. Its clear vision and societal impact earned unanimous praise from the judging panel.
Beyond winning the top prize, “Small Potato BIG Dream” will receive a fully-funded trip to Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal, sponsored by the School of Business. Additionally, the EIC has nominated four finalist teams for the HKSTP Ideation Programme, with the 1st runner-up, “Sportcanheal852”, successfully earning a place. They will receive HK$100,000 in seed funding alongside business mentorship.
