The delegation visits the Jockey Club Creative Hub of JC3

Ms. Cecilia Ho, President of Lee Hysan Foundation, accompanied by Project Director Ms. Janny Lau, led a Foundation delegation to Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) on 23 May 2025. The delegation toured the brand new Jockey Club Campus of Creativity (JC3) where they delved into the University’s pioneering advances in art-tech and life sciences. They were welcomed by Professor Johnny M. Poon, Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research) cum Founding Dean of the School of Creative Arts; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and other academic staff.

The tour kicked off at the Life Science Imaging Centre, where the delegates were greatly impressed by the Centre’s cutting-edge facilities dedicated to neuroscience research. The visitors then proceeded to discover and show great enthusiasm for further top-of-the-range systems equipping the Campus of Creativity. These included the “Jockey Club White Box Experimental Space”, Asia’s first immersive hub for scientific and artistic research that features advanced acoustic systems with precise 3D sound positioning; and the “Main Scoring Stage”, Hong Kong’s largest studio that can accommodate full-scale orchestral ensembles for recordings and recitals. A fruitful meeting following the tour sparked an in-depth exchange of ideas and discussions on collaborative opportunities.

For more than half a century, Lee Hysan Foundation has championed impactful philanthropy in Hong Kong, focusing on five core areas: Education, Social Welfare, Health, Arts & Culture, and Environment. Since the early 2000s, the Foundation has proactively supported HKBU’s participation in international academic conferences, fostering knowledge and scholarly exchange. It is now recognised as Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation.
