HKBU scholar shares AI insights with Wanchai and Central & Western District Industries and Commerce Association

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the key research focuses at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). On 14 May 2025, Professor William Cheung Kwok Wai, Associate Vice-President (Transdisciplinary Education), at the invitation of the Wanchai and Central & Western District Industries and Commerce Association (the Association), delivered a keynote address at its Board of Directors meeting and dinner.
Speaking on “The Impact of AI on the World and Hong Kong”, Professor Cheung offered an accessible yet insightful analysis of AI’s evolving trends. He highlighted the importance of transdisciplinary mindsets and innovative approaches to tackle the world’s increasingly complex challenges. In an interactive Q&A session, Professor Cheung fielded questions from the audience and rewarded their correct answers with gifts from the HKBU Foundation, sparking attendees’ active participation and enhancing a stimulating evening of knowledge sharing.
The event brought together more than 50 distinguished guests, including prominent business leaders and elites from a variety of professions. Among the notable attendees were Mr. Lee Yuk Fat, MH, FPVCB (Hon), Permanent Honorary Chairman and CEO (Volunteer) of the Association and member of the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation; Dr. Lee Yuk Lun, BBS, JP, Permanent Honorary Chairman of the Association and member of the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation; Mr. Simon Tso, President of the Association; Mr. Edmond Ng, Chairman of the Association; and Mr. Stephen Li, Permanent Honorary Advisor of the Association. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, also attended the event.
