To ignite a passion for writing among young people, the Hong Kong Literature Promotion Platform held a seminar titled “Celebrating 10 years: The 5th Hung Leung Hau Ling Young Writer Award” on 12 April 2025. Centred on the theme “The Future We Envision”, the event attracted over 80 attendees, both on campus and online.

Special guests included Mr. Sunny Mak Shu Kin, Lecturer I at the Language Centre of HKBU; Dr. Lee Yat Hong, Instructor at the Chinese Language Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and Dr. Kwok Sze Wing, Associate Professor at the Department of Chinese of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. They were joined by four past award winners: Mr. Li Chiu Chun, Mr. Wong Ching Hang, Miss Wong Pik Wai, and Miss Aris Wong, who shared valuable literary insights, their writing journeys, and visions for the future of literature.

Established in 2015 with a generous donation from The Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, the Hung Leung Hau Ling Young Writer Award aims to recognise emerging Hong Kong writers who demonstrate potential, creative vitality and a sustained commitment to writing.
