The Chinese Writers’ Workshop (CWW), founded by the Faculty of Arts at HKBU, kicked off a month-long Spring event series starting from 25 March 2024 with the sponsorship of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. In this latest edition of CWW, the Faculty played host to four Writers-in-Residence: Ms. Hsu Li Wei from Taiwan; Mr. Ye Zhaoyan and Ms. Lin Qiuming from the Mainland; and Ms. Human Ip from Hong Kong, with the objective of fostering dialogue and exchange within the Chinese literary community.

In the opening event “Writers’ Reading and Conversation” hosted by Dr. Tong Yui, Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, the four Writers-in-Residence shared their works with the audience by reading their pieces aloud and having insightful conversations with the readers. The variety of events featured by CWW aimed at providing a platform where students can learn and practice the skills of writing, and where convergence of writers helps inject vitality into the Chinese literary world.  For the biographies of the four Writers-in-Residence, please click here.

Inaugurated in 2020, the CWW aims to promote contemporary Chinese literature and culture, showcasing their diverse and rich landscapes, promoting creative writing, and initiating projects to enhance students' creativity and cross-cultural communication.
