Kick-off Ceremony of “The Analects for Us All” Writing Competition for Hong Kong Schools
The Kick-off Ceremony of “The Analects for Us All” Writing Competition for Hong Kong Schools was held on 24 November 2023 with great success. Officiating at the ceremony was Mr. Jeff Sze, JP, Under Secretary for Education of the HKSAR. Other guests attending the event were Professor Agnes Chan, the Competition’s Cultural Ambassador; HKBU Foundation members including Ms. Katie Chan; Professor Frank Fu, BBS, MH, JP; Dr. Eddie Ho; Mr. Ip Ka Po; Ms. Jeanny Ng; Professor Ng Ching Fai, GBS; Dr. Tong Yun Kai, SBS, MBE; Dr. Marianna Tsang, MH; Mr. Kent Tsui; and Mr. Wong Nga Chung; as well as Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Acting Dean of Arts of HKBU; and Professor Chen Zhi, Director of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology (JAS).
The Writing Competition is organised by the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development and the Art Concept Culture Institute, and co-hosted by the HKBU Century Club (Century Club) and JAS. It is open to all students of universities, secondary schools and primary schools in Hong Kong. Contestants are required to illustrate how the Chinese classics The Analects of Confucius has inspired and influenced them in their daily lives. Winners will receive cash prizes and an invitation to Beijing for the award presentation ceremony and a study tour. For details of the Competition, please click here (Chinese version only).
Presented by the Century Club in 2020, “The Analects for Us All” is a collection of interviews with world-renowned scholars and political figures, adapted from a television special of the same name. Through a series of questions and answers, readers will be able to learn about the wisdom and life lessons contained in The Analects of Confucius.
