Yesports Master Club, Hong Kong’s first eSports talent pool, was officially launched on 23 June 2022. Mr. Philip Kan, Member of the Alumni Committee and Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, and Dr. Rosa Tang, Acting Director of Student Affairs of HKBU, were invited to attend the launch event. They were joined by Mr. Eric Chan, Chief Public Mission Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport, and Mr. Walter Chu, Executive Vice President of Hong Kong Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Youth Association. Guests attending the event congratulated Mr. Tim Shen, Convenor of the Yesports Master Club, on its successful launch.

Established by Yesports Media Limited, Yesports Master Club, with Cyberport as its key partner, strives to support and nurture local eSports athletes by enabling them to gain more opportunities to participate in international eSports events, including all mainstream eSports competitions.

HKBU has also played a part in promoting eSports in recent years. The University first launched the eSports Talent Development Programme in 2019 to provide eSport training for students who aspire to pursue a career in eSports, with a view to addressing the strong demand for local gaming talents. In 2020, a large-scale eSport football tournament was organised by HKBU students, engaging over 127 students, alumni and staff members.
