The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Ir Dr. Samuel Chan Wai Sang, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, on 14 May 2021. He was 66 years old. 

Dr. Chan, together with his wife Mrs. Grace Chan, made generous donations towards HKBU since 2009. In addition, he was appointed member of the Court of HKBU from 2006-2019 to contribute his professional knowledge to the  development of HKBU. 

Dr. Chan was an electrical and mechanical engineer. He was Senior Manager of the Campus Management Office at HKUST before his retirement. As a devout Christian, Dr. Chan was active in serving various capacities in the church and organisations such as The Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union and The Christian Society. He also served as deacon of Tsuen Wan Baptist Church and took up supervisor and manager positions at the Carmel School.

The Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the Chan’s family at this time of bereavement. Dr. Chan will always be remembered for his distinguished contributions to the education sector and the University.
