Supported by Mr. Zhang Dapeng, President of Y. Cee Chemicals Ltd., HKBU’s Faculty of Arts has organised the “The Dream of the Red Chamber Award: The World’s Distinguished Novel in Chinese” biennially since 2005. It is the first novel prize in Hong Kong awarded to writers in Chinese from around the world, aiming to encourage the publication of quality novels in Chinese.

Six novels were shortlisted for the 8th Dream of the Red Chamber Award in early June 2020. They are:

• 《匡超人》by Luo Yijun from Taiwan
• 《野豬渡河》by Chang Kuei Hsing from Sarawak/Taiwan
• 《雲中記》by Alai from Sichuan
• 《愛妻》by Dung Kai Cheung from Hong Kong
• 《群島》by Hu Ching Fan from Taiwan
• 《織巢》by Xi Xi from Hong Kong
