In Memoriam: Dr. the Hon. Stanley Ho

The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. the Hon. Stanley Ho, GBM, GML, GBS, OBE, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, on 26 May 2020. He was 98 years old.
An influential entrepreneur in Hong Kong and Macau, Dr. Ho established an enterprise that involves multiple business activities, notably in tourism and property development. He was dedicated to the development of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau and played a pivotal role.
Dr. Ho had been widely known for his generosity and benevolent spirit, regularly giving back to the communities in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau by actively providing support for the needy, supporting disaster relief, cultural and technological advancement, and Chinese heritage conservation. Dr. Ho was a staunch supporter of the University. He made a generous donation in 1993 in support of the construction of the David C. Lam Building.
In recognition of his outstanding career achievements and exemplary contributions towards the communities, Dr. Ho had been the only individual to date who received the highest honours of both the Medalha de Honra Grande Lótus (Grand Lotus Medal of Honour) and the Grand Bauhinia Medal bestowed by the Macau and Hong Kong SAR governments in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
The Foundation conveys its deepest condolences to Dr. Ho’s family at this time of bereavement. Dr. Ho will always be remembered for his distinguished contributions to Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau as well as the University.
