Dr. David Mong Tak Yeung, Member of the Board of Governors and the Entrepreneur Committee of the HKBU Foundation, was presented with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong at the Award Ceremony held on 13 January 2020. The honour is to recognise Dr. Mong’s outstanding contributions to promoting cultural exchange and strengthening economic relationship between Japan and Hong Kong. The announcement was made by the Japanese Government in November 2019, and Dr. Mong is the only person from Hong Kong who is awarded such an honour in the Reiwa 1 (2019) Autumn.

At the Ceremony, Dr. Mong expressed his great honour to be awarded the Order and indicated his hope of promoting further cultural exchanges between Japan and Hong Kong. Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor attended the Ceremony on behalf of HKBU and share the joy with Dr. Mong.

Dr. Mong is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Shun Hing Group.
