In Memoriam: Mr. Lo Siu Tong

The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. Lo Siu Tong, donor of HKBU, on 2 January 2020. He was 93 years old.
Mr. Lo was a distinguished entrepreneur. He founded Yu Tai Hing Company Limited in 1966 and actively participated in Hong Kong’s real estate and property construction industry, launching more than 250 projects over the years. Other members of the Lo family have also had very successful careers. The respectable Lo family is dedicated to supporting various charitable initiatives with a focus on education. Over the years, they have contributed to many charitable projects both on the Mainland and in Hong Kong, thereby earning a reputation as passionate philanthropists.
Staunch supporters of HKBU, Mr. Lo and his family made a generous donation of HK$100 million in 2019 in support of the University’s strategic development, as they concurred with the University’s motto “Faith and Perseverance” and its numerous remarkable achievements in various research areas. His son, Mr. Francis Law, Honorary University Fellow of HKBU, generously donated HK$30 million in 2015 to support a research project in the School of Chinese Medicine.
The Foundation conveys its deepest condolences to Mr. Lo’s family at this time of bereavement. Mr. Lo will always be remembered for his distinguished contributions to the education sector.
