HKBU Foundation Annual Report 2021-2022
4 Collaborations initiated by supporters It is worth noting that HKBU’s determination and energy in responding to society’s needs during the pandemic have won the trust of donors, many of whom have initiated collaborations with us. Generous sponsorships were received from the Tencent Charity Foundation, the Hong Kong office of the Everbright Group (via the Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link), Chan Shu Yin Foundation Limited, the DC Foundation and the family of the late Mr. Tse Tak Sang. They have helped the University’s special team fighting COVID-19 to provide free medical consultations and long-COVID rehabilitation services for infected patients. Moreover, resources have been allocated to support the University’s research on post-COVID-19 conditions. These timely and appropriate initiatives have been highly commended by society. Apart from programmes related to COVID-19, the University is making steady progress with the preparatory work for operating Hong Kong’s first Chinese Medicine Hospital, which is scheduled to commence services in 2025. The HKBU Foundation is indeed fortunate tohave securedagreat number of sizeabledonations from our dedicated donors in support of the Chinese medicine research. This is definitely a recognition of HKBU’s strenuous efforts and outstanding achievements in modernising and internationalising Chinese medicine. Forming strategic partnerships With the culture of philanthropy in Hong Kong evolving continuously, the relationship between donors and universities is no longer confined to simply giving and taking. Instead, we have become partners and collaborators. For example, many initiatives at HKBU are jointly launched by our insightful supporters and the University as we share a common vision. In this way, resources from various channels can be effectively combined with the University’s professional expertise and research to accommodate the needs of our society, thereby strategically creating a higher value for the donations. In the financial year of 2021-2022, HKBU has introduced a variety of novel and original teaching, research and community projects thanks to visionary benefactors who have provided ample resources to the University. The projects include: • Jointly conducted by HKBU’s Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Jockey Club “Blended Learning” Project is supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
