Under the CLAP-TECH Pathway Project, HKBU’s School of Communication, industry partners and secondary schools collaborate in a tripartite partnership to roll out applied learning courses titled “Multimedia Storytelling” for senior secondary schools. The course provides students with a systematic comprehension and skills of content creation in various platforms. Co-curricular activities also equip students with the practical skills that are required in the creative industry. Students can learn through practical and extensive experiences with the inclusion of career planning elements. They can apply what they have learnt to different multimedia contexts such as public relations, advertising, sales and marketing, entertainment production and livestreaming. Participating students and teachers also commended the project for providing knowledge of the industry while at the same time teaching problem-solving plus analytical and communication skills that they can apply in different kinds of future jobs. Professor Kara Chan Associate Dean of Communication (Teaching and Learning) and Professor in Communication Studies, HKBU It was with great pleasure that my winning script in a screenwriting contest organised by HKBU brought me the invaluable opportunity to collaborate with veteran filmmakers for the production of Pretty Heart . I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the donor, the industry veteran and the staff of HKBU who shared with me their insightful experiences throughout the long screenwriting process during which I was given the freedom of creation and benefitted a great deal. It meant a lot to me that my work eventually made it to the big screen. Through the film, I hope to encourage the public to reflect on the relationships between fathers and daughters as well as teachers and students, and realise the importance of empathy, thereby creating positive energy for society. Yung Man Tak (Graduate of Academy of Film) One of the screenwriters of Pretty Heart , the first feature film presented by HKBU with funding support from HKS Education Fund Limited
