50 The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Ir Dr. Samuel Chan Wai Sang, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, on 14 May 2021. He was 66 years old. Dr. Chan, together with his wife Mrs. Grace Chan, made generous donations to HKBU since 2009. In addition, he was appointed a member of the Court from 2006 to 2019 and contributed his professional knowledge to the University’s development. As a devout Christian, Dr. Chan was active in a variety of capacities in the church and Christian organisations. He also served as deacon of the Tsuen Wan Baptist Church and took up supervisory and managerial positions at the Carmel School. Dr. Chan will always be remembered for his staunch support for the education sector and the University. 香港浸會大學基金資深會員陳偉生博士工程師於 2021 年 5 月 14 日辭世，享年 66 歲，基金同仁深表 哀悼。 陳偉生博士自 2009 年起偕夫人陳趙敏英女士慷慨捐資浸大。陳偉生博士於 2006 至 2019 年委任 為浸大諮議會成員，長年以其專業知識促進大學的發展。陳博士是一位虔誠的基督徒，熱心事 奉教會及基督徒團體，並擔任荃灣浸信會執事及多間迦密學校的校監及校董。大學同仁定必銘 記陳博士對教育及浸大所作出的寶貴貢獻。 Ir Dr. Samuel ChanWai Sang 陳偉生博士工程師 The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. Lee Shiu, Honorary University Fellow (2020) of HKBU and Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, on 29 May 2021. As Chairman of the Lee Shiu Family Foundation, Dr. Lee was a leading educational philanthropist. From the 1990s onwards, Dr. Lee together with his wife, Dr. Jennie Yee Ching Lee, donated generously to support the development of the education sector both in Hong Kong and the Mainland. The profound and lasting bond between Dr. Lee and HKBU dates back to the 1990s, and he provided wise counsel on HKBU’s governance and development as a member of the Court from 1999 to 2005. Over the years, he generously supported the University’s various endeavours. In 1999, he co-organised the “China Nationwide Tertiary Level Essay Contest” at HKBU. The competition encouraged young Chinese minds to develop their knowledge of science and technology as well as in the field of economics. Dr. Lee will always be remembered for his whole- hearted support and significant contributions to HKBU and to the higher education sectors in general in Hong Kong and the Mainland. 香港浸會大學 2020 年榮譽院士及香港浸會大學基金永遠榮譽主席李韶博士於 2021 年 5 月 29 日辭 世，基金同仁深表哀悼。 李博士為李韶家族基金主席，亦是知名的慈善教育家。自 1990 年代起，李博士偕夫人李梅以菁 博士慷慨捐資支持本地及內地的教育發展。李博士與浸大的深厚淵源始於 1990 年代，他於 1999 至 2005 年間出任校董會成員，為大學的管治和發展出謀獻策。多年來他對浸大關愛有加，慷慨 支持大學的各領域及策略發展。 1999 年，他與浸大合辦促進香港與內地學術交流的「全國大學生 徵文比賽」，鼓勵國內年輕人增進科技及經濟方面的知識。大學同仁定必銘記李博士對浸大、 內地及香港高等教育界所作出的非凡貢獻。 Dr. Lee Shiu 李韶博士
