2 Strong performance despite the pandemic The year 2021 marked another important milestone of HKBU – it was the University’s 65th anniversary. It has been a long and tough journey, with the concerted efforts of our faculty members and students, HKBU has successfully transformed itself into an outstanding tertiary institution that has attracted numerous brilliant minds from around the world. At present, the COVID-19 situation persists and the worldwide economic outlook remains uncertain. Nevertheless, one’s true ability can be tested only in such adverse times. Against this challenging backdrop, Professor Alexander Wai, an expert in optical fibre communications, became the 6th President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, the new leader of our strategic development. In addition, the Board of Governors and its standing committees of the HKBU Foundation started their new terms in 2021. They will continue to shoulder the heavy responsibility of securing financial resources in support of the University’s ever widening array of important endeavours. 疫情下屢創佳績 2021 年，香港浸會大學昂然邁進成立 65 周年的 重要里程。回望昔日的發展旅途，浸大歷盡艱 辛，即使資源匱乏，但憑着師生的眾志成城， 才能成為今天精英匯聚的高等學府。當前，新 冠肺炎疫情持續，世界各國無一倖免，經濟復 甦勢頭亦因疫情波動而表現反覆。然而，在風 雨飄搖的大逆境下，正是考驗實力的關頭。在 充滿各種挑戰的時代下，第六任校長、光纖通 訊研究的傑出學者衞炳江教授到任，竭心盡力 帶領浸大的策略發展；而香港浸會大學基金轄 下董事局及委員會亦在 2021 年開展新一屆任 期，繼續肩負重任，籌募資源，協助大學各項 重大的發展。 Chairman’s Report 主席報告 The HKBU Foundation has been fortunate to have the support of those who are committed to education. Through the platform provided by the HKBU Foundation, financial resources from a variety of sectors have been able to be channelled effectively into many impactful and transformative initiatives launched by the University. 香港浸會大學基金有幸凝聚了各界翹楚，他們都熱心推動高等教育，透過基金這個平台，匯集 各界的捐款，帶來協同的力量，襄助大學締造更多變革，令捐款轉化成更大的效益。
