23 University’s Recent Developments 大學最新發展 Innovative Research 創新研究 Led by Professor Guo Yike, Vice-President (Research and Development), the University established six interdisciplinary research laboratories: the Augmented Creativity Laboratory, the Computational Medicine Laboratory, the System Health Laboratory, the Smart Society Laboratory, the Data Economy Laboratory and the Ethical and Theoretical AI Laboratory. These labs will enable HKBU to apply advanced technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence to address frontier research issues. 在副校長(研究及拓展)郭毅可教授領導下,浸大成立了 六所跨學科研究實驗室:創造性智能實驗室、計算醫藥學實 驗室、系統健康研究實驗室、智能社會實驗室、數據經濟實 驗室,以及人工智能倫理與理論實驗室。它們將助大學應用 大數據及人工智能等先進科技,解決前沿研究議題。 Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine, and his team were presented with first prize in the 2020 National Award for Outstanding Contribution to Innovation in Standardisation, an honour conferred by the State Administration for Market Regulation. Also, an aptamer research project led by Professor Lyu was awarded a grant of HK$50 million from the Research Grants Council’s Theme- based Research Scheme 2020/21. 中醫藥學院院長呂愛平教授及團隊獲國家市場監督管理 總局頒發 2020 年度中國標準創新貢獻獎一等獎。此外,由 呂院長帶領的核酸適配子研究,則獲研究資助局 2020/21 年 度主題研究計劃撥款港幣 5,000 萬元。 A research team led by Professor Ricky Wong Man Shing and Professor Li Hung Wing of the Department of Chemistry has invented a novel contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which enables real-time visualisation and detection of the size and number of amyloid-beta (Aβ) in the brain, a main hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease. The invention offers hope for early detection and large-scale routine screening of the disease. It also helps in assessing the efficacy of drugs. 由化學系黃文成教授和李紅榮教授帶領的團隊研發了一種 嶄新的磁力共振掃描顯影劑,可實時顯示及探測阿茲海默 症主要標記物「 β -澱粉樣蛋白」在腦內積聚的大小和數量。 是項發現為未來進行阿茲海默症的早期診斷和恆常普查, 以至評估藥物療效帶來希望。 Dr. Li Jianfeng, Assistant Professor of the Department of Geography, and his team studied 406 tropical cyclones and discovered that the average speed of the storms dropped by 11% between 1961 and 2017. These slow-moving tropical cyclones brought about 20% more rainfall, resulting in greater flood risks. The discovery offers invaluable insights that will enable better flood management and adaptation strategies in the coastal region of China. 地理系助理教授李劍鋒博士及團隊檢視了 406 個熱帶氣旋, 發現其平均移動速度在 1961 至 2017 年間減慢了 11% ;熱帶氣 旋緩慢移動,會為區內帶來多約兩成的降雨量,加劇水災威 脅。研究結果對中國沿海一帶在加強防汛管理和應對策略方 面極具參考價值。
