President’s Message 校長獻辭 7 Topping the “unchanged” list is what our University stands for. We pride ourselves as a caring University. At a time when our students and some colleagues came under intense stress and emotional strain due to the social unrest, our senior leadership team, including all the Vice-Presidents, Deans, teachers and myself, ran a daily roster to meet with students in small group sessions in the morning, afternoon, and at night throughout the week. We managed to meet up with all the students who wanted to talk to us and seek advice. Each and every student who wanted to meet up was able to do so. Our care for our students will never change. It is our firm belief as educators that students educated in a caring environment will mature into caring and responsible members of our community. Also unchanged are the key values and principles that we as a University hold dear. They include freedom of expression, inclusiveness, and respect for the rights of others. These unchanged principles and values guided us through a most challenging time. 第一項的「不變」是「關愛」。「關愛」是大學的 基因，亦是我們的承擔。面對社會動盪，同學、 同事難免感受到無比焦慮和壓力，情緒備受困 擾。大學領導層，包括副校長、院長、老師和我 希望能夠和大家並肩同行，於是我們輪流安排， 每天早、午、晚以小組形式，與同學面對面傾 談。每一位希望與我們傾談或尋求協助的同學， 我們都見面，一個都不能少。我們對同學的「關 愛」，從來不變。作為老師的我們，堅信在關愛 環境學習和成長的學生，日後也必能成為關顧社 會的負責任公民。 仍然不變的，還有浸大一直堅守的核心價值和原 則，包括言論自由、包容、和尊重別人的權利， 這些不變的文明原則和價值，引領我們在這段艱 難的時期，堅定前行。
