Chairman’s Report 主席報告 2 The year 2019 marked the 10th anniversary of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation. The Foundation was born a decade ago amid the turbulence arising from the global financial crisis. That was indeed a difficult time. Nonetheless, with great resolution and deep sincerity, our visionary founders have convinced more than a hundred community leaders, entrepreneurs and alumni to join the Foundation. As time goes by, the Foundation has thrived and attained remarkable achievements. Its membership has grown by 461% from 131 in 2009 to 735 as of December 2019. Together with grants allocated from several rounds of the Government’s Matching Grant Scheme, the Foundation has successfully secured more than HK$2.27 billion in support of HKBU’s strategic development. This is indeed a blessing for the University. The University’s Strategic Plan 2018-2028 is now forging ahead. It aims at providing the best student experience and fostering world-class academic research. To bolster teaching and research facilities as well as recruit top scholars, substantial financial resources are needed. Fortunately, a number of long-standing supporters shared our new direction and several have generously made giant donations. They include: • Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited, Shiu Pong Enterprises Limited and the Hung family; • Lee Shau Kee Foundation Limited; • Mr. Lo Siu Tong and the Lo family; • Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund Limited; • The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. 2019 年，香港浸會大學基金昂然邁進十周年。 基金成立於 2009 年，當時全球正面對金融危 機帶來的嚴重衝擊，但一群有識之士憑藉無比 的決心和誠意，打動了各界社會領袖、企業翹 楚及校友加入基金，為大學籌募資源。時光荏 苒，十年過去，基金蓬勃發展，碩果纍纍，會 員人數由 2009 年的 131 人，持續增長至 2019 年 12 月底的 735 人，增幅達 461% ；歷年累積籌得 的捐款金額，連同透過捐款向政府申請的配對 補助金，已逾港幣 22.7 億元。基金能籌得豐富 的財政資源推動大學發展，浸大着實蒙福。 浸大正全力推行「策略發展計劃 2018-2028 」， 務求為學生提供最佳的學習體驗，創造世界級 研究成果。要提升基礎及研究設施，招聘頂尖 教研人員，需要龐大的資金支持。慶幸大學新 訂的發展方向獲不少長期捐款人認同，紛紛踴 躍襄助，慷慨給予以億元計算的巨額捐款，其 中包括： • 孔憲紹慈善基金有限公司、紹邦企業有限 公司及孔氏家族； • 李兆基基金有限公司； • 羅肇唐先生及羅氏家族； • 信興教育及慈善基金有限公司； • 香港賽馬會慈善信託基金。 Chairman‘s Report 主席報告
