their wise counsel and sage advice, they motivate their friends and the succeeding generations to join the Foundation, bringing in fresh blood and new strength. This has been of enormous help in extending our support base and facilitating our fundraising activities. I joined HKBU in 2002, first as Deputy Chairman of the Council, subsequently as Chairman of the Council, and then Chairman of the HKBU Foundation. In the past 15 years, I have witnessed HKBU attaining distinguished achievements on a variety of fronts. For me, these have been truly exciting and memorable moments. During my service at HKBU, the greatest gain has been the many friends I have made through the University and the Foundation. I realise that many people in Hong Kong are selflessly and consistently contributing to the education sector. Some are community and business leaders. Others are HKBU staff and alumni. What they all have in common is their readiness to spare their time and money to help nurture our next generation for the benefit of society. HKBU is a medium-sized university with limited resources. Nonetheless, thanks to their great passion and limitless determination, HKBU members have succeeded in shining ever brighter in the international academic firmament. Given the concerted efforts of our staff, our students and the Foundation, the time when HKBU reaches its goal of becoming a leading research-led liberal arts University in Asia for the world is just around the corner. Although I stepped down as Chairman of the Foundation at the end of 2017, I will continue to serve on the Board and contribute to the development and well-being of the HKBU family. HKBU has rolled out its 10-year Institutional Strategic Plan for 2018- 2028, which sets out a comprehensive list of targets that will lead HKBU to achieve its goals. As always, the HKBU Foundation will walk closely with the University and resolutely back its development. May I take this opportunity to wish the Foundation ever continuing success in the years to come! Wilfred Wong, GBS, JP Chairman, Board of Governors Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation 入更多新血，拓展更廣闊的網絡，有效推進籌 募的工作。 我自 2002 年起加入香港浸會大學，先後出任 校董會副主席、主席，再成為基金主席，轉眼 已有十五年，期間一直見證着浸大在各領域取 得驕人的成就，既興奮又激動。服務浸大，最 大的得益莫過於透過在大學及基金結識到的朋 友，亦令我深深感受到原來香港確實有不少 有心人默默為教育無私付出，他們或是社會賢 達、企業翹楚，或是大學的教職員、校友，在 各行各業成就卓著、獨當一面，但都不吝嗇自 己的時間或金錢，願意為社會作出貢獻，為教 育下一代出一分力。 浸大的規模中等，資源亦有匱乏的時候，但憑 藉浸大同仁對教學的熱誠、鍥而不捨的精神， 往往能突破地方或資源上的限制，以致近年在 國際學術領域屢獲殊榮。師生的努力加上基金 的支持，浸大要成為亞洲區內最優秀的博雅大 學，必定指日可待。雖然我已在 2017 年底卸下 基金主席一職，但我仍會留任基金董事局，繼 續支持浸大這個大家庭的發展。 浸大已定下 2018-2028 的十年策略發展藍圖， 務實地設下行動綱領及成效指標，向着目標昂 首邁進。香港浸會大學基金將一如以往，繼續 與浸大同行，團結各界的力量，成為浸大發展 背後雄厚的支柱。我衷心祝願香港浸會大學基 金百尺竿頭，茁壯成長。 王英偉， GBS ， JP 董事局主席 香港浸會大學基金 5 Chairman’s Report 主席報告
