financial constraints whose parents have not received post-secondary or university education. The scheme has been introduced in 2017-2018 and eligible students will be provided with financial assistance to expand their participation in outside-of-classroom activities. Creativity has always been highly valued at the University and it was again underscored when HKBU became the only institution in Hong Kong to have won gold medals for all projects submitted to the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva for two consecutive years. In the prestigious event held in Switzerland in 2017, a delegation from HKBU scooped a total of nine top prizes. In fulfilment of the University’s aspirations, HKBU will spare no effort in order to secure the necessary resources in support of key initiatives under its Strategic Priorities including scholarships for global learning experience, research support, endowed professorships as well as buildings and facilities. Over the past six decades, it was the members of the HKBU Foundation and supporters of the University who helped foster creativity within the institution, facilitated meaningful service to society, and contributed to the University’s success and reputation. I look forward to working hand in hand with you all in the successful implementation of the new ISP as we strive to achieve our vision, which is: “To be a leading research-led liberal arts University in Asia for the world delivering academic excellence in a caring, creative and global culture”.
