The third priority is capacity . HKBU will also continue investing in its most valuable resource – its people. Our objective in this area is to sustain academic and research excellence through appropriate investments in people, governance and facilities. The University recognises that it is crucial to have a strong team in place for forging ahead with plans to achieve its aspirations. HKBU has just launched Talent100 . The target is to recruit 100 new academic staff globally over the next three to five years to contribute to the University’s wider teaching and service needs and bolster its strength in research- focused areas. In addition, the University has initiated the Endowed Chairs Scheme. This serves as one of the means to attract the world’s greatest minds to HKBU to promote world-class, ground-breaking research and broaden our students’ horizons. It is encouraging to see that with the generosity of supporters who firmly believe in our vision and enthusiasm, six Endowed Chairs have been established to date. These honours have been bestowed on prominent HKBU scholars with distinguished records of advancing the frontiers of knowledge for the benefit of humankind. With a view to providing new physical space for delivering diverse learning experiences, we will commence the Ho Sin Hang Campus redevelopment project and complete The Hostel and Academic Building Complex for 1,700 students and 7,000 square metres of learning space on Renfrew Road, Kowloon Tong, by 2023. We are confident that we can put these exciting plans into action through our enabling campus environment that has a strong Caring , Creative and Global culture. The HKBU community is known for the compassionate and caring nature of its members. They get involved and are eager to contribute towards a better world and they encourage others to do the same. The University has made good progress in garnering support for innovative service learning programmes and exchange scholarship schemes to enable students to broaden their international exposure. It is indeed gratifying to witness the establishment of the “Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association Admission Scholarship Scheme for Outstanding South and South East Asian Ethnic Minority Students” with the generous contribution from the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association. The Scheme encourages and supports outstanding local ethnic minority students to pursue studies in undergraduate programmes.
