2017 年是香港浸會大學關鍵的一年。浸大去 年慶祝創校 60 周年，象徵大學正邁向另一新 階段。浸大同仁一直繼往開來，秉持創校先賢 的願景和使命，使我校由當年憑藉遠見和勇氣 建立的初創高等學府，發展成今天成就卓越 的大學。然而，現今世界急速發展，任何成果 皆轉瞬即逝。為此，我們重新策劃大學的發展 藍圖，並在今年推出了「策略發展計劃 2018- 2028 」，確保浸大在多方面取得領先優勢。 這項十年發展計劃，是大學與浸大社群經過 多次深入討論和諮詢後制訂而成的。它表達了 浸大社群的抱負：以關愛、創意、國際化為基 礎，並確定行動綱領，讓大學重新肯定其歷史 使命，及與時並進。 為達到策略發展計劃的目標，大學將專注在 三項優先策略。第一是為學生提供 最佳的學習 體驗 ，透過課堂內外的學習計劃，盡力發掘學 生的創意潛能、增強他們的溝通及合作能力， 以提升其發展機會，並為貢獻世界盡一分力。 大學會致力讓每位本科生都有機會走向世界， 通過交流、實習及服務學習等計劃，前往內地 及海外遊歷與學習。我們慶幸獲得不少基金會 員的支持，這些出色的企業家及傑出的社會領 袖為浸大學生提供了大量寶貴的實習和服務機 會，讓他們增廣見聞。 第二是在 學術上力臻卓越 。浸大致力創造知 識，以協助解決社會以至世界所面對的問題為 目標。大學銳意將三個重點教研領域提升至世 界水平，並透過浸大學者和全球及社會的緊密 連繫，推動合作。三大重點領域分別是 創意 媒體 、 健康與藥物研發 、及 數據分析與人工智 能 ，當中包括金融科技、數據新聞學及數據人 文學等。 2017 was a watershed year. Our joyous 60 th anniversary celebrations inject into the HKBU community a renewed sense of mission passed down to us by our founding fathers who turned a higher education institution, a bold start-up, into a leading university that we are today. But in a world of rapid changes, success is transient. We need to stay ahead of the times. Which is why we are rolling out our 2018-2028 Institutional Strategic Plan (ISP). This 10-year plan was drawn up after more than 20 in-depth discussions and consultation sessions with the HKBU community. It is a defining expression of HKBU’s collective aspiration and at the same time a plan of action to achieve that aspiration, grounded in the University’s caring, creative and global DNA. It sets out a comprehensive list of goals that will both re-dedicate HKBU to its historic mission and transform the institution over the next 10 years. To fulfil the goals of the ISP, the University will focus its energies and resources on three Strategic Priorities. The first one is to deliver the best student experience in Hong Kong by emphasising integrity, creativity, communication, employability, and commitment to the common good of humankind. This is to be achieved by enhancing and enriching students’ learning both on- and off-campus. The University will work towards achieving the goal that every undergraduate will be provided with the opportunity to have a meaningful learning experience outside Hong Kong, on the Mainland or overseas, through exchange programmes, internships or service learning activities. We are deeply grateful to a number of Foundation members, many of whom are successful entrepreneurs and distinguished community leaders, for their untiring efforts in providing valuable service and experiential learning opportunities for our students. Secondly, academic excellence at HKBU will extend the frontiers of knowledge and tackle global challenges. We aim to produce world-class teaching and research in selected clusters – Creative Media and Practice ; Health and Drug Discovery ; and Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in applications such as Fintech, data-journalism and digital humanities – to solve problems for and with society using close connections between HKBU researchers and external stakeholders. 6 Message from the President 校長獻辭 Message from the President 校長獻辭
