42 In Memoriam 永遠懷念 In Memoriam 永遠懷念 Mr. Lau Chor Tak 劉佐德院士 The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. Lau Chor Tak, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation and Honorary University Fellow (2010) of HKBU, on 27 January 2017. He was 95 years old. Mr. Lau was a true philanthropist who demonstrated his genuine concern for society, particularly in education, through his contributions to primary and secondary schools, as well as universities in both Hong Kong and on the Mainland. He made his first donation to HKBU as early as 1955. In the past six decades, he staunchly supported the development of HKBU through his generous contributions to the University Development Fund, the Student Housing Project, the Character Development Fund, the campus ministry, the Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Scholarship Scheme for Outstanding Mainland Students, the University’s Campus Master Plan and the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology Development Fund. In 2011, Mr. Lau donated a residential unit to HKBU for receiving visiting world- class scholars. In recognition of his unswerving support, the University named a multi-purpose hall on the Shaw Campus the “Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Multi-Purpose Hall”, and named the donated apartment the “Mr. and Mrs. Lau Chor Tak Lodge for Distinguished Scholars”. Mr. Lau will always be remembered for his ardent support and distinguished contributions to the University’s development. Dr. Charles Cheng Sung Ko 鄭崇羔醫生 The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. Charles Cheng Sung Ko, former Council andCourtmember and donor of HKBU, on 7 June 2017. He was 74 years old. Dr. Cheng was a renowned surgery specialist and an active member of public health bodies. He held the Presidency of the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, the Association of Private Medical Specialists and the Hong KongOratorio Society. Hewas also a Deacon ofTsimShaTsui Baptist Church. Dr. Cheng was a staunch supporter of HKBU. He contributed greatly to the University in his capacities as Council member, Court member and Honorary Degrees Committee member. Dr. Cheng will be greatly missed by the University community. Dr. Liu Lit Mo 廖烈武博士 The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. Liu Lit Mo, MBE, JP, Senior Member of the HKBU Foundation, on 12 July 2017. He was 79 years old. Dr. Liu, Chairman and Executive Director of Liu Chong Hing Investment Limited, was an outstanding banker and an enthusiastic participant in community service. He served on several leading positions in the community including Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, President of the Chinese Bankers Club, and Manager of the Liu Po Shan Memorial College. Hewas appointed Justice of the Peace in 1967 andwas awarded an MBE and a Silver Jubilee Medal by Her Majesty the Queen in 1968 and 1977 respectively. Dr. Liu was also a well-respected philanthropist whose contributions to education are particularly noteworthy. He made a generous donation in support of the University’s development fund in 2005. Dr. Liu will always be remembered for his unfailing support for the University. 香港浸會大學基金永遠榮譽主席兼浸大 2010 年榮譽大學院士劉佐德先生於 2017 年 1 月 27 日 辭世,享年 95 歲,基金同仁深表哀悼。 劉佐德院士熱心公益,尤其關注教育事務,曾 向本地及內地大學、中小學作出不少捐獻。劉 院士早於 1955 年便向本校送出他第一筆捐款, 自始成為浸大的長期支持者,不時慷慨捐資襄 助大學各領域的發展,受惠項目包括香港浸 會大學發展基金、學生宿舍計劃、學生品格培 育基金、校園事工、劉佐德伉儷優秀內地學 生獎學金計劃、校園總體發展規劃、饒宗頤 國學院發展基金等。 2011 年,劉院士更捐贈一 個住宅單位予大學,用以接待世界級訪問學 者。為鳴謝劉院士對浸大歷年來的鼎力支持, 大學把位於逸夫校園的一個多用途會堂命名 為「劉佐德伉儷多用途會堂」,並將其捐贈的 單位命名為「劉佐德先生伉儷匯賢居」。我們 定必銘記劉院士對浸大發展的熱心支持和傑出 貢獻。 香港浸會大學前校董會兼諮議會成員及捐款人 鄭崇羔醫生於 2017 年 6 月 7 日辭世,享年 74 歲, 基金同仁深表哀悼。 鄭崇羔醫生是一位著名外科專家,曾加入多間 公共衛生機構。他曾任香港浸信會醫院董事 會、香港私人執業專科醫生協會及香港聖樂團 主席,亦是尖沙嘴浸信會執事。鄭醫生古道熱 腸,心繫教育,是浸大的長期支持者。他曾擔 任校董會、諮議會兼榮譽學位委員會成員,對 大學貢獻良多。我們將永遠懷念這位摯友。 香港浸會大學基金資深會員廖烈武博士, MBE , JP 於 2017 年 7 月 12 日辭世,享年 79 歲,基 金同仁深表哀悼。 廖烈武博士為廖創興企業有限公司主席兼執行 董事,是一位傑出的銀行家,一直以來積極參 與社會事務。廖博士歷任多項公職,包括東華 三院主席、香港銀行華員會會長,以及廖寶珊 紀念書院校董等。廖博士於 1967 年獲委任為太 平紳士,並分別於 1968 年及 1977 年獲頒授大英 帝國員佐勳章( MBE )及銀禧紀念勳章。廖博 士亦是一位熱心的慈善家,為人樂善好施,對 教育的貢獻尤為傳頌。廖博士於 2005 年慷慨捐 資,支持大學的發展基金。我們定必銘記廖博 士對浸大發展的寶貴支持。
